Inspired by the great nation of Abyssinia, modern-day Ethiopia, and in particular, the town of Lalibela. Ethiopia was never conquered and has a direct lineage that is traceable to thousands of years, it is a proud nation and one that inspires Africans who are proud of themselves and understand their history.
One structure in Lalibela that inspired most is the rock shrewd church of St George, a magnificent architectural feat.
The Covenant stands for one thing, and that is the fact that anyone, especially in the diaspora, that acquires Land in the motherland, has made Covenant with the continent. The word 'covenant' will no longer be associated with foreign negative connotations it will signify the covenant that lovers of Africa have no choice but to make between themselves and the motherland.
The covenant is grand, it is a spectacle in the early morning with the dew that surrounds it. We have incorporated the crosses that are seen all over Ethiopia and at the St George church and the roads have been created 5ft wider than normal to reduce density.
The Covenant is our first community that has specified commercial plots and a significant communal space for a future 'wellness' site for leisure and recreation, funded by all of our community members.
